The History of the Australian OSINT Symposium
The inaugural Australian OSINT Symposium (AOS) was held virtually between the 7th and 9th of September 2020. It was conceived by Chris Poulter, the founder of OSINT Combine, as conference that would help foster closer collaboration between private and public sector Intelligence professionals working in the field of open-source intelligence. Chris' goal is to help break down walls or informational silos, and help foster improved intelligence outcomes regardless of use case to help make the world a safer place.

The conference provides presenters and attendees alike a space to share techniques, methodologies, insights, and experiences to enhance intelligence and business outcomes and foster connection and collaboration within the Australian and the global OSINT community.

Since 2020 the conference has been held every year in September, the symposium aims to capture a global audience and is delivered as both an in-person and virtual event with presentations recorded where possible. It was initially held in Canberra but moved to Sydney in 2023.

Each year the Australian OSINT Symposium attracts speakers and attendees from around the world including individuals from New Zealand, The United States, Canada, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Greece, Poland, South Africa, The United Arab Emirates, Fiji, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brazil, and Japan.
